Current-insulated bearings and hybrid cylindrical roller bearings

  • Reliable traction motor bearings for improved cost-effectiveness
  • Electrically insulated traction motor bearings prevent damage and save on costly repairs
  • High-capacity cylindrical roller bearings with single-piece solid-brass cage available as standard

To enhance reliability and cost-effectiveness in rail vehicles, Schaeffler has developed highly reliable traction motor bearings that minimize damage and reduce repair and downtime costs. A key solution involves using current-insulated rolling bearings with Insutect A ceramic coating to prevent unwanted electric currents from damaging components and breaking down lubricants. These ceramic-coated and hybrid bearings offer a cost-effective solution by decreasing maintenance costs and enhancing machine uptime.

Additionally, Schaeffler introduces high-capacity cylindrical roller bearings with a single-part “MP” solid brass cage, which is stronger under vibration and shock loads compared to the previous two-piece “M1” cage. This new design allows for easier bearing reconditioning and improves operational reliability, extending service life and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) for rail operators, while also benefiting the environment through a reduced carbon footprint.
